What material are the hair clips made of?

Our hair clips are made of acetate.

What is the difference between acetate and plastic?

The most important thing is that acetate is a petroleum-free, renewable and
biodegradable material is used to produce our hair clips without the production process contributing to the mountain of plastic waste.

First, acetate is made from wood pulp and cotton linters. Both are plant-based and renewable resources. Plastics, on the other hand, are derived from petrochemicals, which are obtained from fossil crude oil, coal or natural gas.

Secondly, acetate is also biodegradable. In biologically active soil, cellulose acetate fibers can be completely biodegraded in 4-9 months. Petroleum-based
Plastics, on the other hand, can last in the environment for hundreds of years
to hang around.

Every year, 400 million tons of plastic are produced, 40% of which is for single use (think straws, bags, etc.). By choosing acetate, we hope to minimize our impact on the earth.

Finally, it is a strong material that makes our hair clips last a long time in use. In this way we try to prevent excessive consumption and pollution.

What about the sustainability of the distribution?

We use 100% recyclable materials for our shipping boxes and packaging. Furthermore, our thank you cards are made of circular growth paper. If you put our thank you card in potting soil, it will grow roots. We try to deliver orders in Utrecht and Amsterdam by bike as much as possible!
